Generating games of Warlords Bolt Action, Tank War, Blood Red Skies or Victory at Sea with the Combined Arms board game.

Combined Arms is a stand alone board game that also has rules for generating table top games from the moved on the board game.

We have been selecting the tan or green game pieces. Initially the grey objective/city markers are deployed by the two sides then the chosen units are deployed. Turn by turn sides alternately choose to move land, sea ir air units. After each side makes three choices the movement ends and a resolution card is flipped. Typically all generated air battles are played. then usually each side can choose one battle to play (or to return destroyed units to play).
Play continues till one side controls all five objectives or accumulates the agreed number of victory points. The game can be played exclusively as a board game. The rules have a section for integrating your miniatures rules. We have developed play where the board game is emphasized.  Each play piece on the board represents 1000 points. When a battle is generated, we set up the tabletop game and apply the results of that game to the board game. We dismiss with the maintenance of army lists.

We have played through at least four campaigns. Limiting victory to 5 points we got campaigns to be very manageable by just two players. With multiple players kicking out manageable games of just 1000 points we imagine a long weekend would be enough time to complete a campaign. We also see people bringing their own armies and lists to complete games. Regardless of the army chosen players will join the green or tan side. We hope to see you all at Sand Wars and join in the game fun.

I've been messing around with making models with building foam. Managed to make a mold of a ship for 28's and my noble opponent has some ships from Flagship games so we got a game going. I dug up my old copy of Limeys & Slimeys, never thought Id get a game of that in.
Here we have the ship from Flagship games.
Here we got the two ships I made with building foam. No sails yet.
At start we moved in a couple of moves from opposite sides of the board. Wind direction set by a die roll.
A few shots are exchanged.
A close up of the vile goblin captain Red Coat!
Red Coat rams (glancing) and manages to grapple the trailing ship.
The goblins swarm into the boarding action.
The lead ship comes about to rake fire the goblins. The boarding crew slaughter the defending humans. note the red splats.
The prize crew makes off with the captured ship. A few more moves with the remaining human ship trying the unmast the ship of Red Coat. But was not to be, Red Coat and the prize crew sail off leaving the human captain ruing for another fight.

A few shots of last Mondays game. We played a naval game using the Ganesh rules Gallys and Gallions with my Valiant miniatures English and Spanish ships.

There were six ships on each side. 431 and 432 points each. The Spanish came in as one group. The English came in opposite corners three ships each. The Spanish got the first kills in but later lost two ships in combat and two ships sailed off the table due to bad activation rolls and so called the game. A good time was had by all and looks like we will be revisiting the game. Probably trying one of the scenarios.

Happy New year to all! Taking some time on my first day of 2016 to post some pictures of our game last Monday. We played the training scenario of the board game Churchill. A unique game where three players take the role of either Stalin, Roosevelt, or Churchill. The full game starts in 43 with the first conference of the "Big Three". Each turn is a conference, and there are ten conferences. By the end of the ten conferences the players need to have defeated Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. During each conference players advance agendas to better there position politically as well as militarily. The really interesting thing is you can't do too well. You want to win but not by too much. It is a alliance after all!

On one side you can see the conference track with three spokes.
This is where players advance issues.
The other half has the maps where you track players advance on various fronts.
We all enjoyed the training scenario of the last three conferences and plan to take on the whole ten conferences game.
